Adding light leak effects can be a great way to add something interesting to photos. Light leaks can be replicated in a few different ways (see our Light Leak Photoshop Actions, Vintage Light Leak Photoshop Actions, Light Leak Lightroom Presets, and our first set of Light Leak Overlays). This set includes 20 different photo overlays that make it easy to add light leaks. The overlays come in both .psd and .jpg versions. Each overlays is a massive 5400 pixels by 3600 pixels at 300 dpi. The .psd file includes all 20 overlays in separate layers, so you can insert your photo and quickly preview how it will look with each of the different overlays. Simply reduce the opacity of the light leak layer if you want to reduce the strength of the effect.
Documentation is included in the download that walks you through the simple process of using the .psd file. If you’re using the .jpg files, setting the overylay layer to “screen” will typically produce the best results. The .psd file and the .jpg files can be used in Photoshop and Photoshop Elements. The .jpg files can be used by image editors that support the use of layers.
