Do you want to know what one of the most valuable tools in my camera bag is? It’s a $10 dollar piece of equipment that has made all the difference in my finished photos. I can slip it in my pocket, put it on my belt or store it in the front of my bag for easy access.

This littleĀ lens pen has saved my life countless times over the past year that I have owned. It was a small investment that has paid off in countless ways. Before I got this little guy I would always get my images in front of me to post process them and would ALWAYS end up with little flecks of dust somewhere in my image. There is no telling how many countless hours I have spent hovered over my computer in Photoshop removing all of those unwanted dust particles from my finished image.

Now that I have a lens pen, I have added a small step in my shoot time but it has made all the difference! When I pull out a lens from my bag, I remove the back cover and secure it onto my camera body. After that I remove the lens cap, take out my lens pen and dust my lens off with the built in brush. After I dust it off I wipe it down with the other end. This part gets all of those unwanted finger marks, surface scratches and any other pesky intruder that has made it’s way onto my lens surface. A thirty second step that saves me countless hours in post processing. AND it leaves me with happy clients!

The right end of the pen has a removable cap that keeps the squeegee clean, and the left end of the pen has a lever you can push so that the brush pops out. The brush can easily retract into the body of the pen keeping it free from dust particles as well. And no worries if you misplace your pen! At $10 each these little guys aren’t hard to replace!

What about you? Have you ever tried a lens pen yourself? Are there any inexpensive but useful things YOU keep in your camera bag to ensure the quality of your photos?
